Talcher: At least five workers sustained severe burn injuries after an explosion at NTPC’s Kaniha plant in Odisha’s Anugola district in the early hours of Saturday.
According to preliminary information, a massive explosion took place at the coal bunker (B) of the plant located in Pallahara area when work was in progress at the site.
The explosion left at least five workers grievously injured. They were immediately rushed to a hospital in Talcher for treatment. Two of them were subsequently shifted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar as their condition turned critical.
Senior officials visited the site following the incident to take stock of the situation and ascertain the circumstances in which the explosion occurred.
