5-Year-Old Girl Crushed To Death By Truck In Odisha’s Nuapada, Locals Block NH

Nuapada: A five-year-old girl was crushed to death by a speeding truck on NH 353 in Khariar block of Odisha’s Nuapada district on Monday, triggering protest and road blockade by irate villagers.

The mishap took place at Sanamaheswar village and the deceased girl was identified as Dimple Sunani, daughhter of one Hara Sunani, sources said.

The truck was proceeding towards Raipur from Khariar when Dimple came under the vehicle while crossing the road. The truck has been detained.

Angry over the incident, locals blocked the highway and demanded adequate compensation to the family of the deceased.

 

A team of police personnel reached the spot and tried to pacify the protesters. A case has been registered and investigation is in progress.
