Cuttack: Bringing glory to the state, five-year-old Anika Bagaria of Cuttack has won bronze medal in Children-I category at the Online Open National Taekwondo Poomsae Championship 2021.
As many as 15 students from all over world participated in the contest in which Anika secured third position to receive the bronze medal.
Anika’s mother Silky Bagaria said after she got to know about Open National Taekwondo Championship from social media, she had registered Anika’s name for participation.
She said Anika was interested in Taekwondo after watching videos in internet and television. She has been taking online training from Sudipta Nanda at SN Taekwondo Academy for the last one year, she added.
“After observing her interest, I gave her admission in online Taekwondo class. Initially, it was difficult for her to learn through online as she was only of four years. I had to do each step for her. However, after some days, she started doing well,” said Silky.
“Though the contest was held in last July, we received the medal by post recently. We are very happy for our daughter’s success. We will help her practise more and pursue her passion,” she added.
Daughter of Anand Bagaria and Silky, Anika is a prep student of St Joseph’s Girl’s High School in Cuttack. With her studies, she is taking training of Abacus, drawing and Taekwondo.
