Jajpur: A five-year-old girl on Thursday lost her life after drowning in Kharasrota River at Jari village in Binjharpur area of Odisha’s Jajpur.
The deceased has been identified as Soni.
According to sources, Soni went with her mother and was sitting on the river bank while her mother was taking a bath. But after some time, Soni walked into the river and was swept away by the strong water current. Seeing her drowning, her mother shouted for help from villagers in the vicinity.
Locals with the help of a boat began the search operation and were able to find Soni after some time. She was rushed to the nearby health facility where doctors declared her dead.
