Bhubaneswar: Police on Thursday detained AYUSH doctors agitating near the National Health Mission (NHM) office here.
The practitioners of Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy have been on strike since last three days to press for various demands, including salary hike.
“AYUSH doctors have been playing a significant role in providing healthcare services to people in rural pockets of the state since long. It is regretful that the state government has failed to consider our long-standing demand for salary on a par with that of central government’s scale of pay. We also condemn the action of police, who forced us to withdraw our strike and detained us,” a protestor said.
