Koraput: Thanks to the relentless efforts of ASHA and anganwadi workers, 50 revenue villages out of a total of 107 in Jeypore block in Koraput district have reported zero COVID-19 infections so far.
According to sources, around 300 community workers have been spreading awareness about the deadly virus. They are also involved in regular door-to-door surveys in the villages to assess the health of villagers.
“Regular campaigns by these grassroots workers and follow ups on COVID patients have helped keep the infection at bay,” Medical Officer of Ravanaguda community health centre A Chaitanya was quoted as saying by The New Indian Express.
Around 794 persons have tested positive for the virus in Jeypore block so far. Of them, 764 have recovered and the rest are active cases. Three COVID deaths have been reported in the block so far.
