Angul: A week after a three-year-old raped in Angul district, another incident involving a five-year-old girl has come to the fore.
According to sources, a 50-year-old man attempted to rape the minor girl under in a village Bantala police limits here on Saturday in an inebriated condition.
The accused has been identified as Arttatana Behera.
The girl was playing with her friends when the accused forcibly took her to a dilapidated house in the village and attempted to rape her.
Hearing screams, the villagers rushed to the spot and rescued the girl.
On being informed, police reached the spot and detained Arttatana. The accused and the girl were then sent for medical examination.
