Bhubaneswar: Over 5,000 people, including professional cyclists, participated in the first-of-its-kind Saksham Cyclothon, organized jointly by Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) and the oil industry, here on Sunday.
Flagging off the cyclothon at Kalinga Stadium here, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said, “Conservation is a collective responsibility and all of us should come forward for the cause of a clean environment.”
Awareness for a pollution-free environment, especially in our youngsters, is infectious, Pradhan added.
Pradhan cycled along with the participants to inculcate the healthy habit of cycling and spread awareness for fuel conservation.
The cyclothon was held in three categories – 33 km race (men’s category), 22 km race (women’s category) and 11 km race (general category).
The cyclothon concluded at Kalinga Stadium here after covering its route via Ram Mandir and Sisu Bhawan Square.
