51% Willing To Take COVID-19 Vaccine In India Immediately

Bhubaneswar: Vaccine hesitancy is not as widespread in India as in other countries, according to a global survey.

The survey, conducted by the Customised Intelligence Business Unit of US-based consumer intelligence firm NielsenIQ, found that around 49% of Indian respondents would wait a while to take the vaccine compared to around 64% around the world. As high as 51% were ready to take the vaccine immediately.

The survey involved 15,000 respondents from Australia, Canada, France, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Thailand, Turkey, the UAE, the UK and the US. There were over 1,200 respondents from India.

The survey also found that 58% were still unwilling to dine out, and 65% hesitant to attend live sports while 70% were not willing to travel abroad.

“Our findings in India show early indicators of a positive mood shift compared to several other markets we looked at, but caution will continue to guide consumer spending over at least the next few months,” the survey stated.
