Rourkela: The COVID-19 tally in Odisha’s Sundargarh district touched 2805 on Friday with an overnight addition of 88 new cases.
Of the new cases, 60 have surfaced in Rourkela and 53 among them are from the special jail.
With this, cases from the jail have mounted to 121.
On June 7, six under-trial prisoners of the jail had tested positive for COVID-19. Seventeen more prisoners were found infected on August 7. Another 20 tested positive on August 11 and 24 on August 12.

The rest 28 cases have been identified in different localities in the district.

The district has also reported one more COVID-19 death in the last 24 hours.
With 21 deaths and 1709 recoveries, Sundargarh now has 1071 active cases.
