53 Student Volunteers To Assist Traffic Police In Bhubaneswar-Cuttack

Bhubaneswar: In a novel move, students have been roped in to assist the Commissionerate Police in managing traffic in the Twin City of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

Announcing this on Monday, Commissioner of Police S Dev Datta Singh told reporters that the decision has been taken as part of a citizen-policing initiative to improve traffic regulation.

Altogether 53 Student Traffic Volunteers have been inducted by the Commissionerate Police to assist in traffic regulation. “Today, 53 students joined the Commissionerate Police as traffic volunteers,” the Police Commissioner said.

All the student volunteers have been provided with a specific uniform and a cap for identification. These students will now take up traffic responsibilities alongside their academic commitments, contributing actively to public service.

The Commissioner emphasized that the student volunteers will balance their academic responsibilities alongside their traffic management duties. Their involvement, he said, would play a significant role in strengthening the city’s traffic system.

The move aims to support the traffic police, promote civic responsibility among students, and enforce a zero-tolerance policy on traffic violations.

The Commissionerate Police have taken this proactive step to enhance traffic management and encourage community participation in maintaining road discipline.
