Ayodhya: Ayodhya is set for a gala Diwali celebration. The local administration is targeting another Guinness World record by lighting 551,000 earthen diyas at 28 ghats in the temple town.
Last year, 410,000 earthen diyas were lit up on the banks of Saryu river, reported Hindustan Times. This time, diyas will be lighted at Ram Ki Paidi ghat also. UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and governor Anandiben Patel will be present on the occasion.
Deepotsav celebrations were started in Ayodhya after the BJP won the assembly elections in 2017.
Though public participation has been restricted due to the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic situation, around 8000 students from colleges in Ayodhya were trained to create the world record.
Besides the lamps at ghats, 21,000 diyas will be lit at the under-construction Ram Temple, while 300 temples and maths will be lit up.
