Cuttack: Renovation and modernisation work of Badambadi bus stand in the Millennium City is most likely to be taken up soon.
This buzz was generated by the surprise visit of 5T Secretary VK Pandian to the city in the early hours of Tuesday.
According to reports, the 5T Secretary, accompanied by Cuttack Collector Bhabani Shankar Chaini, Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi and Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC), Central, Anil Kumar Samal and Cuttack DCP Akhileswar Singh, arrived at the bus stand early in the morning and reviewed the infrastructure facilities. Later, he visited the Angul-Puri bus stand and the CESU Colony.
From Badambadi, Pandian went to the Hind Cinema Road in Ranihat area and the roads connecting the SCB Medical College and Hospital with the Taladanda Canal road, where the district administration and the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) have undertaken eviction drive for expansion and modernisation of the hospital.
The 5T Secretary returned to Bhubaneswar after holding a review meeting with the secretaries of the departments concerned at Maritime Museum at Jobra.
Talking to mediapersons later, the RDC said that the bus stand at Badambadi will be shifted to a 30-acre area near the Biswanath Pathagara (library) near Link Road in Khan Nagar. The Biswanath Pathagara will be relocated to a place in the city and given a new look with the construction of a new building, he said.
He also said that the renovation work of the Angul-Puri bus stand at Badambadi will be taken up with all facilities for the passengers. Apart from this, arrangements will be made to upgrade the parking area for the buses at Gopalpur, on the outskirts of the city, he added.
