Pratapgarh: As many as 14 people, including six children, were killed when their SUV rammed into a truck on a highway in Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh.
Police said all the occupants of the SUV died in the crash and several others were injured in the accident that occurred around 11.45 pm on Thursday on Prayagraj-Lucknow highway.
The truck was parked at the side of the highway due to a punctured tyre when the SUV rammed into it from behind. Five bodies were recovered soon after the crash whereas the rest were pulled out after the mangled SUV was retrieved from under the truck.
The children who died in the crash were all aged between 7 and 15, the official said. The eight other victims were all men aged between 20 and 60.
All the victims were returning home to Kunda in Pratapgarh district after attending a wedding when the fatal accident took place, NDTV reported.
