Rourkela: Police on Sunday detained six persons in connection with a gruesome murder of five members of a family whose bodies were fished out of a well in their house at Indupur village under Koida police limits in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Saturday morning.
Talking to mediapersons, Bonai SDPO Abakash Routray said the police have seized a spade and a crowbar from the detained persons who are the neighbours of the deceased family members.
“Preliminary investigation has revealed that the five members have been killed on suspicion for practising witchcraft,” he added.
The incident came to light when the husband reached home on Saturday morning and found blood stains on the floors and informed the police who rushed to the spot and started investigation.
Police later fished out the bodies of Mangiri Munda, her two daughters and two sons from a nearby well.
