Banki: Six persons were injured in a violent clash between two groups at Karadapalli village of Banki in Cuttack district on Saturday.
They were admitted to Kalapathar and Banki hospitals. Kalipoi Sarpanch Subash Nayak, who sustained critical injuries in the clash, was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. He had multiple dagger injuries on both his limbs.
According to sources, the clash was the fallout of old enmity over a political dispute.
To prevent any further flare ups, police forces have been deployed in the area. Banki SDPO along with IIC of Baideswar police station are closely monitoring the situation, the sources added.
In a separate incident, Nuapada district veterinary officer Trinath Nayak was seriously injured after being attacked by three masked men at his office. He received grievous injuries on his left hand and was rushed to a local hospital. The miscreants fled the spot soon after the incident. Past enmity is being suspected as the reason behind the brutal attack, police sources informed.
