Cuttack: Six persons were critically injured in a group clash at Chandni Chowk near Royal Garden during immersion of Goddess Kali idols in Odisha’s Cuttack.
According to sources, some youths of Mohammadia Bazaar had a scuffle with another group of Hasina Bag in Chandni Chowk area while returning after immersing the idol of Goddess Kali. It soon escalated and both groups started hurling stones and glass bottles at each other. Amidst this, a shop was vandalised and three bikes were also damaged.
On being informed, Lalbagh police arrived at the spot and brought the situation under control. While the injured were admitted to a hospital, security was beefed in the area to prevent any flare-up. A manhunt has also been launched the arrest the accused.
The reason behind the clash is still unknown.
