Nabarangpur: A six-month-old girl died after being attacked by a swarm of bees in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district on Sunday.
According to sources, the incident took place in Phuljhari village under Jharigaon block of the district. While Tikiram Majhi, his wife Tula and their three daughters were collecting mahua flowers from a tree near their house on Saturday, they were attacked by the bees.
As they felt stinging pain and cried for help, the villagers rushed them to community health centre (CHC) at Jharigaon. The family members had sustained serious injuries in the incident, said hospital sources.
Later, the couple’s 6-month-old daughter Ambika was shifted to a hospital at Umerkote as her condition deteriorated. She died while being treated in the hospital on Sunday morning, the sources said.
The condition of other family members was stated to be stable.
