Keonjhar: Police rescued a baby girl after she was found abandoned under a bus at Champua in Odisha’s Keonjhar district.
As per preliminary reports, the baby girl, aged around six months, was lying under a passenger vehicle at the bus stand in Champua on Sunday night.
Sources said a helper of the private bus parked at Champua stand found the baby girl wrapped in a plastic bag while inspecting the wheels of the vehicle.
He immediately informed the locals and the police about the incident. On getting information, a police team visited the bus stand, rescued the baby and sent her to Champua Sub-Divisional Hospital. The health condition of the baby is stated to be stable.
Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the identity of the person who abandoned the baby girl. While it is suspected that the mother of the baby might have fled after leaving her at the bus stand, probe is under way.
