Cuttack: Six members of a gang of dacoits who had looted gold and cash from a businessman at gun point were arrested by the police in Odisha’s Cuttack on Sunday.
According to preliminary information, the police received a tip-off regarding the presence of the gang members at a hideout. Acting swiftly, a team of police personnel carried out a raid at the hideout and nabbed the six members.
Several stolen articles, including gold bangles, silver ornaments, three bullets and two motorcycles, were seized from their possession.
Most of the arrested gang members are from Berhampur and Cuttack. They will be forwarded to the court soon, said Cuttack DCP Pinak Mishra.
It may be noted here that the gang members looted gold wroth Rs 5 lakh and Rs 25,000 cash from a businessman at gunpoint at Kandarpur in Cuttack district on September 6.
