Puri: In a tragic incident, a six-year-old boy was killed as he came under the wheels of a tractor being driven by his father during the immersion procession of Lord Ganesh idol at a village in Odisha’s Puri district.
As per information received on Saturday, the incident took place at Dimirisona village under the jurisdiction of Brahmagiri police station of the district late on Friday night when the idol of Lord Ganesh was being taken in a procession for immersion.
The deceased boy has been identified as the son of Pramod Swain of Dimirisona.
According to sources, Pramod was driving the tractor while his son accompanied him in the vehicle. The boy suddenly slipped and fell from the vehicle. He sustained critical injuries as the tractor ran over him.
The boy was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where the doctor declared him dead.
On being informed, police personnel from Brahmahagiri reached the hospital and initiated a probe.
