Cuttack: A six-year-old boy was killed after being run over by a Hyva truck in Narsinghpur area of Odisha’s Cuttack district on Saturday, triggering protest by locals.
According to preliminary information, the incident took place at Baghuapala village under the jurisdiction of Narsinghpur police station in the morning when the boy was reportedly returning home from school. The mishap took place near his house.
Soon after the mishap, the victim was taken to the hospital at Narsinghpur by villagers. However, he was declared dead by the doctors after arrival at the hospital, sources said.
The deceased was identified as Sambit Dehury, son of Dipu Dehury.
Angry over the incident, relatives of the boy and locals staged a demonstration and blocked the Cuttack-Angul road demanding adequate compensation to the family of the deceased.
