Jajpur: In a tragic incident, a 6-year-old boy died after he was allegedly administered a ‘wrong injection’ by a quack at a village in Dasarathpur area of Odisha’s Jajpur district on Tuesday.
The incident was reported from Mugapada village under the jurisdiction of Dasarathpur police station of the district. The deceased has been identified as Omm Mallick, son of Surendra Mallick.
Sources said the boy, who was suffering from diarrhoea, was taken by his family to a medicine store owned by Mitu Pati at Mandrakhand square. The shop owner reportedly administered two injections without doctor’s prescriptions to the boy, after which Omm became unconscious. He was rushed to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) at Jajpur where doctors declared him dead.
The family members of the boy have lodged a complaint in this regard at Dashrathpur police station alleging that medicine shop owner was responsible for the death. The medicine store owner was stated to be absconding and efforts are on to trace him.
“Our son was suffering from diarrhoea and we took him to the medicine store. The shop owner administered two injections after which the boy died,”Said Kunalata Mallick, mother of the deceased.
