Bhubaneswar: Police have arrested six youths on the charge of mobile phone snatching from different police station areas under the Commissionerate Police in Bhubaneswar.
As per reports, the arrested youths belong to the areas under Khandagiri, Nayapalli, Tamando, and Sahidnagar police stations.
Of them, two youths, identified as Chamba alias Dipti Ranjan and Santosh Panda were arrested near Rehmat Nagar Kabadi Basti under Khandagiri police limits and nine stolen mobile phones and a stolen motorcycle seized from them. They confessed to the police that they had stolen the bike from Bharatpur and were using it to loot mobile phones in the city.
Similarly, Sujit Singh was arrested and 10 mobile phones were seized from his possession by Nayapalli police. He had recently snatched a mobile phone from a woman at CRP Square. He has two criminal cases pending in Capital and Saheed Nagar police stations.
In another case, Tamando police arrested Binayak Kumar Mohapatra for snatching a mobile phone from a person near DN Regalia Mall. He is a regular offender and was released on bail recently. He has one case pending at Kharvel Nagar, three in Khandagiri and two in Bharatpur police stations.
Saheed Nagar police also arrested two youths, identified as Kalia alias Deepak Pradhan and Bapi alias Bhupati Bhoi, from near Maharishi College. They had snatched a mobile phone from a woman near Vani Vihar railway station and attacked her.
