Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has detained 60 persons during its drive against drinking in public places in Bhubaneswar.
On the direction of the DCP, the drive was conducted in the areas under the police stations of Kharvelnagar, Khandagiri, Bharatpur, Capital, Nayapalli, Laxmisagar, Airport, Lingaraj, Badagada and Maitri Vihar on Friday night.
The teams comprising selected officers and officials of POPD and Team-60 under the supervision of IIC of each police station and ACP carried out raids on different public places.
During the raid, as many as 60 persons were found violating the guidelines of the Commissionerate Police. While they were detained in respective police stations, fine of Rs 30,000 was collected from them.
The police said the drive would continue regularly in future to ensure safety and security of the people of the capital city.
