Rourkela: Six decades and still going strong, the 60th anniversary of the first Hot Metal tapping from the Blast Furnace ‘Parvati’ of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) was celebrated on Sunday.
Congratulating the collective, Ashwini Kumar, CEO, RSP said,
“These celebrations refresh us about our rich heritage and inspire us to scale new peaks. The joy has got multiplied because of the outstanding performance of the plant in the recent past,” he added.
February 3, 1959 is a red letter day since it was on this day that Parvati” the first Blast Furnace of the nascent republic was lighted up by the President of India Dr Rajendra Prasad at Rourkela Steel Plant.
RSP has so far contributed more than 84 million tonnes of steel for nation building, while its contribution to the public exchequer has been more than Rs 18,000 crores
