Bhubaneswar: Acclaimed social worker, educationist and KIIT & KISS Founder Dr Achyuta Samanta was conferred with honorary doctorate by Guwahati’s Assam Down Town University on Thursday.
It was Dr Samanta’s 60th honorary doctorate, from across India and abroad.
As he couldn’ attend the ceremony in person, a representative accepted the award on his behalf during the university’s 11th convocation ceremony.
In bestowing the honour, the university acknowledged Dr Samanta’s outstanding efforts and significant contributions in the fields of education, health, tribal development, arts, culture, literature and rural development.
In a recorded message, Dr Samanta said he would cherish this honour as it happens to be the 60th doctorate conferred on him.
“For the last 33 years, I have been working relentlessly for the people in the society. This 60th honorary doctorate will be remembered by me for all times to come,” he said, promising to visit the university soon.
