Paralakhemundi: Police seized 610 kg of ganja while being transported in a truck in Gajapati district and arrested 6 persons in this connection on Thursday.
According to police sources, a special drive was launched by district SP Tapan Patnaik to crack down on ganja trade. The contraband was seized during a blocking exercise by a team led by near Taramala village under Mohana police station. It was smuggled in the truck from Shikulipadar in the district to Haryana.
The police found 21 packets of ganja weighing 610 kg from a hidden compartment of the truck. The seized contraband was estimated to cost Rs 40 lakh, the sources said.
