64 CCTV cameras installed at Jharpada jail

Bhubaneswar: To improve the security system and keep a tight vigil on the activities of prisoners and employees, 64 CCTV cameras were installed in Jharpada Special Jail on Thursday.
A total of 16 walkie-talkies have been provided to jail employees to maintain proper coordination among themselves on jail premises.
Apart from CCTV surveillance, luggage scanner and metal detectors have also been installed at the prison.
The move came after several objectionable items were recovered during raids on various jails across the state on June 4 basing on complaints from different sources. Following the simultaneous raids, cash to the tune of Rs 16 lakh was seized from the chamber of the jailor of Sambalpur
jail. Drugs and narcotics were also recovered from different jails.
