65% COVID-19 Patients Aged Under 45, Open Up Vaccination: Kejriwal

New Delhi: The second wave of coronavirus infections in India has affected younger people more. In Delhi, as high as 65% of COVID-19 patients are under 45 years of age. No wonder chief minister Arvind Kejriwal pleaded with the Centre to remove age restriction on vaccination.

“I have requested Centre many times regarding the removal of age restrictions on taking the COVID-19 vaccine. Delhi government is ready to conduct a door-to-door campaign to vaccinate people. 65% of patients in Delhi are below 45 years of age,” Kejriwal said on Sunday.

The nation’s capital reported 10,732 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, pushing the positivity rate into double digits (10.21%) for the first time this year.

The CM said that the COVID-19 situation in Delhi is extremely serious and felt that the “fourth peak” of coronavirus in Delhi is more dangerous than the November 2020 spike.

Those above 45 are now eligible to get the vaccine in India.
