Cuttack: Director Intelligence, Odisha, Sunil Kumar Ray inaugurated the 66th edition of Odisha Police Duty Meet 2018 at Reserve Police Ground here on Thursday.
Ray received the ceremonial salute of a colourful parade on the occasion.
“The meet is an occasion in which a police officer gets an opportunity to display his/her talent and skills,” he said.
As many as 195 competitors and 21 canines (dogs) from 37 Police Districts and Establishments are participating in this mega annual event. Of these, 40 are inspectors, 42 sub-inspectors, 48 ASIs and 65 constables.
The three-day meet will witness competitions in varied policing subjects like observation and police portrait, Scientific Aid to Investigation, Medico Legal Test, Finger Print Identification, Lifting – Packing and Forwarding of Exhibit, Photography, DNA Finger Printing, Technical Surveillance, Cyber Crimes, Laws and Rules and Computer Awareness Test.
The winners will participate in the All India Police Duty meet.
Additional DGP, Crime Branch, Santosh Kumar Upadhayay gave the welcome address. IGP CID CB Arun Bothra and many senior officers of Odisha Police and some retired police officers were present at the inaugural programme.
DGP Dr RP Sharma will be the chief guest at the valedictory function on September 29.
