Balangir: With the arrest of seven persons and seizure of over Rs 58 lakh, police on Friday claimed to have busted a gambling racket in Odisha’s Balangir district.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of police officials carried out a raid on a lodge at Kantabanji in the district late on Thursday night and unearthed a gambling den, reports said.
Seven persons, who were engaged in gambling inside the lodge, were taken into custody, they said.
The police team also recovered more than Rs 58 lakh cash, playing cards and some other material from their possession during the raid.
Investigation in the case is in progress and efforts are on to ascertain the involvement of more people in the racket.
