Ahmedabad: Seven people were killed in a horrible car accident in Gujarat’s Surendranagar district late on Sunday afternoon.
An overloaded Swift Dzire, with seven people on board, collided with an SUV (Tata Harrier). The impact was so severe that the Dzire caught fire, trapping its passengers inside the car.
All seven travelling in the car, including the driver, died.
Local people immediately raised an alarm and informed the authorities about the mishap.
Police officials and an emergency call (108) team rushed to the spot to start rescue operations.
“Seven persons travelling in the car were burnt alive while three in the SUV escaped with minor injuries following the incident near Dedadara village at around 3.30 pm,” said Vadhvan police station inspector PB Jadeja.
The Dzire was damaged almost beyond recognition, but the SUV and its passengers were moch more lucky.

The accident led to a traffic jam on the highway as ambulances and fire engines focused on the immediate job on hand.
