7 Councillors Of Odisha’s Patnagarh NAC Join BJP After Quitting BJD

Bhubaneswar: Seven councillors of Patnagarh Notified Area Council (NAC) in Odisha’s Balangir district on Friday joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after quitting Biju Janata Dal (BJD).

The councillors, including the NAC vice chairman, joined the lotus party in the presence of BJP Odisha u

nit president Manmohan Samal and Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo in Bhubaneswar.

The councillors are Prafulla Kumar Meher, Sriram Dalei, Lochan Bhue, Mukund Meher, Hemabanti Meher, Rita Meher and Runu Kumbhar.

“We welcome the councillors to the BJP family with commitment that we all will work together for the development of Patnagarh,” said Singh Deo, who is the MLA from Patnagarh.

It may be noted that BJD on Thursday suspended NAC vice chairman Prafulla Kumar Meher for alleged anti-party activities.

Notably, several BJD activists in Bhadrak and Jajpur districts, including block chairpersons, had joined the ruling BJP after resigning from the Naveen Patnaik-led party recently.
