Kendrapada: At least seven people were critically injured in a violent group clash at a village in Aul area of Odisha’s Kendrapada district.
As per preliminary information, the clash took place between two families at Manikapatna village under the jurisdiction of Aul police station in the district late on Sunday night.
The injured were initially admitted to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Aul in a critical condition. They were later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for better treatment.
Sources said trouble erupted over a long-standing land dispute between the families of Sankarsan Das and Bharat Das. The two families had been at loggerheads over a property issue for the past three years. Tension mounted further when one family tried to construct a structure, sparking heated arguments.
The situation turned ugly over vehicle parking issue, triggering a violent clash. Sharp weapons were used by both sides during the clash in which at least seven persons were grievously injured.
All the injured were rushed to the hospital in an ambulance around in the wee hours of Monday.
As tension prevailed in the village following the violence, police personnel in strength have been deployed in the area to prevent any further flare up.
