7 Held, 2 Vehicles Seized For Reckless Stunts On Hirakud Dyke Road In Sambalpur



Sambalpur: Police detained seven youths and seized their two vehicles in Odisha’s Sambalpur district for allegedly performing dangerous stunts on a public road near Hirakud Dam.

As per sources, the dangerous driving by the accused took place on South Dyke Road near the dam and police action came after videos of the scene went viral on social media. The visuals showed youths performing stunts using two cars, prompting concern among commut

ers and residents.

The videos captured youths driving recklessly while filming “movie-style” clips. Some sat atop the vehicles, while others smoked cigarettes, and several posed with gestures as the vehicles swerved unpredictably. The stunts disrupted traffic and endangered commuters.

After the videos surfaced, Burla police launched an investigation, identified the vehicles and detained those involved. Police registered a case under Sections 281/285/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) read with Sections 184/201 of the Motor Vehicles Act. The seized vehicles remain in custody, and a hunt is on to apprehend others involved.

Officials warned against rash and negligent driving, urging citizens to report such behaviour immediately to prevent accidents. They said strict action will be taken against those endangering public safety.
