Bhubaneswar: As many as 37,43,943 people in 26 districts have been affected by flood and heavy rain in Odisha so far this year, the state Assembly was informed on Thursday.
This information was shared by Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari while replying a question by MLA Tankadhar Tripathy regarding relief to flood-affected people.
The Minister said seven human deaths and 93 livestock losses have been reported due to flood and excessive rainfall. Apart from that, crop damage over 2,12,533 hectares and damage to 18,067 houses have been reported across the state.
The Minister further informed that Rs 234 crore 84 lakh 86 thousand has been released to the districts as per SDRF norms towards compensation for personal property loss. Out of this, Rs 33.63 crore has been given for house building assistance and Rs 151.96 crore for crop loss assistance.
