Balasore/Dhenkanal/Bhubaneswar: Road accidents claimed seven lives in Dhenkanal and Balasore districts on Tuesday morning.
Three persons were killed while a pregnant woman sustained serious injuries when the 102 ambulance in which they were travelling was hit by a truck on NH 16 at Barungadia Square in Balasore district. The woman was admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. The deceased were identified as the husband and uncle of the pregnant woman and an ASHA accompanying them.
In another accident in the district, helper of a mini truck died and the driver was injured when the vehicle rammed a stationary lorry at Soro. The driver was admitted to the district headquarters hospital.
The day saw three more deaths in Dhenkanal district when two trucks collided head-on at Bishwanathpur Square under Gondia police limits. One person was injured in the accident and admitted to the district headquarters hospital.
