Bhubaneswar: Seven members of a gang have been arrested by the Commissionerate Police for allegedly robbing valuables from several denizens in Bhubaneswar by posing as cops.
According to police, the gang members, who hail from Madhya Pradesh, used to carry out robberies targeting money, jewellery, and other articles.
Police seized Rs 3.5 lakh in cash, gold ornaments, gemstones, a car, two motorcycles, six mobile phones, and several incriminating documents from the gang members.
The accused have been identified as Sadekh Hussain (56), Sabir Ali (33), Fayaz Hussain (36), Hasan Ali (20), Abuzar Ali (23), Zahir Ali (34) and Rajendra Kumar Kushabaha (32), all from Madhya Pradesh .
The gang members would pose as police officers and target elderly persons, especially those who were alone during morning or evening walks.
Following thorough investigation and monitoring of their modus operandi, the Bhubaneswar UPD apprehended the entire gang and recovered the stolen valuables.
