Rourkela: A seven-month pregnant woman was shot dead by two unidentified miscreants during a robbery bid at Jhirdapali area under Tikayatpali police limits in Bonai of Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Wednesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Simamayee Behera (33).
According to sources, the unidentified men knocked on her door past midnight. They barged into the house as she opened the door and snatched her gold chain. When she screamed, one of the miscreants took out a gun and fired on her. She was hit on the chest. The duo then fled the scene as her husband rushed to her help.
She was rescued and taken to Bonai hospital by her family members around 1.30 am but doctors declared her dead on arrival.
Samyamayee’s husband, Deben Behera, claimed he was asleep during the attack and rushed out upon hearing the commotion, only to see the assailants fleeing.
