Bhubaneswar: Police have arrested seven persons in connection with the violent protest that led to injuries of three police officers due to stone-pelting in Odisha’s Bhadrak.
DIG of Police (Eastern Range) Satyajit Naik told reporters that police have arrested seven persons for their involvement in inciting violence and stone-pelting on the police during the rally against an ‘objectionable’ post on social media Facebook.
With the latest arrest, total 22 persons have been arrested for the violent incident at Purunabazaar in the town on Friday. Earlier 8 persons, including the individual who shared the social media post, were arrested from Bhadrak and seven from Dhamnagar.
Meanwhile, Bhadrak and Dhamnagar were limping ack to normalcy with shops and business establishments opening their shops on Monday.
But the prohibitory orders under Section 163 of BNS, banning all forms of gatherings and demonstrations across the district remains in force. Internet services has also been suspended for 48 more hours with access restricted to banks, corporate entities, and large industrial organisations through leased lines only.
