Puri: Police have arrested 7 persons in two cases of attempt to murder and bomb explosion in Odisha’s Puri district.
Speaking to media person in the town on Tuesday, Puri SP K Vishal Singh said while 5 persons have been arrested in connection with the attempt to murder in Chandanpur on May 25, the other two were wanted for bomb blast at Water Park in the same area.
The police made the arrest in the first case following investigation into a complaint filed by Saudamini Jena, the wife of Charan Jena of Ganganarayanpur under Chandanpur police station.
The complainant had alleged that while Charan along with his two friends was returning home on the intervening night of May 24 and 25, some miscreants attacked them with sharp weapons. Charan was critically injured in the attack and hospitalised.
One of his friends also sustained bullet injuries as the attackers fired at him. The miscreants had planned to murder Charan, his wife stated in the complaint.
The police arrested all the five accused from different places of Chandanpur and also recovered two pistols and a country-made gun besides live cartridges from their possession.
In the other case, the two persons had exploded two bombs at the Water Park after its owner denied to pay them the ransom of Rs 1 lakh demanded by them. The Water Park owner had lodged a complaint at Chandanpur police station in this regard.
