Berhampur: At least seven students were injured after a van carrying them to school overturned in Digapahandi area of Odisha’s Ganjam district on Saturday.
As per sources, the mishap took place at Chikiti under the jurisdiction of Digapahandi police station
in the morning. The van was reportedly carrying around 12 students from Chandpur area to Pitatali Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya when the mishap occurred.
The van reportedly turned turtle after crashing into an electric pole near a sharp turn.
The driver of the van, who sustained critical injuries, was immediately taken to a nearby health centre and later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhamapur for advanced treatment.
All injured students were rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Chikiti. Their condition is stated to be stable.
After receiving information, a police team reached the spot and initiated a probe into the incident.
