Angul: A 70-year-old man allegedly committed suicide after testing positive for COVID-19 in the district on Tuesday.
Additional Tehsildar of Angul Prakash Nayak said after the man, identified as Jagabandh Bagh of Kathapal village under Chhendipada police limits, developed COVID-19 symptoms two days back, his family took him for test.
As Bagh tested positive for coronavirus, his family put him in isolation in a room outside the house and took all possible care of him. They found him dead on Tuesday morning. He had hanged himself from a tree near the house with his towel.
Nayak said Bagh might have felt frustrated for testing positive for the disease and killed himself. On being informed, Nayak along with a police team went to the village and seized the body.
