Over 70,000 Siksha Sahayaks Go On Mass Leave In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Pressing for fulfilment of their 7-point charter of demands, more than 70,000 Siksha Sahayaks went on a mass leave and staged mass dharna on the Mahatma Gandhi Marg in the Odisha capital on Monday.

“About 72,000 Siksha Sahayaks have gone on a mass leave. Despite a series of meeting with the state government we are yet to get any positive result. We are still deprived of the benefits of the Seventh Pay Commission recommendation. Apart from this, the state government has not taken any step to regularise the service of the Siksha Sahayaks who have been working for more than six years since 2011,” Malaya Jena, President, Odisha Siksha Sahayak Sangh, told media persons here.

The other demands of the Sangh are relaxation in transfer rules, benefits after death

He further said if the state government fails to meet the demand of the Sangh, the Siksha Sahayaks would boycott the annual examinations of Class-I to Class-VIII.

He further said the Sangh will continue its dharna for an indefinite period till its demands are fulfilled.

Nearly 58,000 Siksha Sahayaks are presently appointed in Primary and Upper Primary schools and Nodal high schools in Odisha under Sarba Siksha Abhiyan.
