Bhubaneswar: As many as 72,090 women were reported missing in Odisha during the five-year period from 2021 to 2025, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed the state Assembly on Monday.
In a written reply in the House, Majhi, who holds the Home portfolio, stated that 53,720 of these missing women had been traced as of July 31, 2026.
He said 11,635 women were reported missing in 2021, of whom 9,121 had been traced as of July 31, 2026.
In 2022, a total of 12,793 women were reported missing, while 9,871 of them had been traced.
Similarly, the state reported 13,915 missing women in 2023, of whom 10,661 had been traced. In 2024, as many as 16,000 women were reported missing, while 12,011 had been traced.
The number of women reported missing stood at 17,747 in 2025, of whom 12,056 had been traced as of July 31, 2026.
The figures show that the number of women reported missing annually increased from 11,635 in 2021 to 17,747 in 2025.
The Chief Minister also provided details of children and girls reported missing during the period and those traced as of July 31, 2026.
