Bhubaneswar: The overall sero-prevalence for antibody against COVID across Odisha has been found to be more than 73% in general population and over 93% among health workers during a sero survey conducted by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
In a video briefing on Sunday evening, director, ICMR Sanghamitra Pati said the survey conducted in 12 districts has found that 93% of health workers have developed antibody.
While it was detected in 98% health workers in Jajpur and Kandhamal, the figure was 88.2% in Khurda. Around 70 per cent of children have also developed antibody.
No difference has been marked in sero-prevalence after vaccination against COVID in rural and urban areas of the state. While 72.7% sero-prevalence was detected among rural population, it was 73.7% among urban people. Similarly, there is no difference in antibodies in men and women.
There was also no difference in developing antibody after taking Covaxin and Covishield vaccines, the director said.
Among seropositive persons, 13% of them reported symptoms suggestive of COVID-19 and 23% had previously tested positive.
Speaking on vaccination against the disease, she said while 48% women has taken at least one dose, 45.6% men had taken one jab.
