74th Republic Day Parade: Here Are The Many Firsts

New Delhi: The 74th Republic Day will go down in the annals of history as for the first time since independence, the parade is taking place at the ceremonial boulevard after Rajpath was renamed to ‘Kartavya Path’

• All official invites for the ceremonial event were sent online for the first time.
• The vintage artillery with 25-pounder guns that traditionally fires the thundering ceremonial 21-Gun Salute has been replaced by 105 mm Indian field guns.
• Only Made-in-India weapon systems are being showcased in keeping with the theme of “Atmanirbhar Bharat.”
• A team of “Daredevils” Motor Cycle Riders from the Corps of Signals is co-led by a woman officer.
• Women have formed a part of the BSF Camel Contingent.
• The aerial show includes nine Rafale aircraft and the Navy’s IL-38.
• Formations like ‘Bheem’ and ‘Vajrang’ are being showcased over the Kartavya Path.
• A military contingent of the Egyptian Army with 144 personnel is participating in the parade.
• The President of the Arab Republic of Egypt has been invited as Chief Guest on Republic Day
• The Narcotics Control Bureau is showcasing a tableau.
