Bhubaneswar: Eight persons were arrested by the police on Monday in connection with a theft committed at a Durga Puja pandal in Bomikhal area of Bhubaneswar.
The accused, who hail from Bihar, have been held for their alleged involvement in stealing the purse of a woman devotee who visited the puja mandal on Sunday, police said.
Apart from some cash, the purse contained several documents including PAN card, Aadhaar card, voter identity card of the woman.
Four mobile phones, two knives and Rs 1,000 cash have been seized from the accused persons, all of whom belong to Bihar. Further investigation is in progress.
