Guwahati: Another route, another derailment.
Within a week of the collision and derailment of Mysuru-Darbhanga Bagmati Express near Chennai, at least 8 coaches of the Agartala-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express went off track at Assam’s Dibalong station on Thursday.
Fortunately, there were no casualties in the latest train accident, which occurred around 4 pm in the Lumding-Bardarpur Hill section of Lumding division.
“Eight coaches, including the power car and the engine of the train, got derailed. However, no casualty or major injuries have been reported,” PTI quoted the CPRO of Northeast Frontier Railway zone as saying.
An accident relief and medical train was sent from Lumding to the accident site from Lumding, as senior officials of the division arrived to supervise rescue and restoration works.
Northeast Frontier Railway issued the following helpline numbers at Lumding – 03674 263120 and 03674 263126.
Train services had to be suspended as Lumding-Badarpur is a single line section.
